Defending champions Ivory Coast crash out of #AFCON2017 - Mhiz Rebecca - 01-24-2017
Reigning champions Ivory Coast have been
eliminated the ongoing AFCON 2017 tournament.
The Elephants who won the 2015 edition, were
defeated 1 - 0 in their final group game against
Morocco which they needed to win to have any
chance of making it to the quarter-finals.
Ironically, Morocco is managed by Hervé Renard,
the man who won the 2015 edition with Ivory Coast.
The other team eliminated from Group C is Togo
who are captained by Emmanuel Adebayor.
Togo finished bottom of the group with two losses
and one draw and lost their last group game against
DR Congo.
Ivory Coast and Togo join Algeria, Guinea-Bissau ,
Gabon and Zimbabwe in exiting the tournament
while Morocco and DR Congo go through alongside
Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal, Burkina Faso and
Cameroon.
