BSU court clash: Two students shot dead - Adesewa - 11-09-2018
Two students of Benue State University ( BSU ) were killed in Makurdi , the state capital , in cult clashes . The killings occurred in separate areas within the capital city between Tuesday and Wednesday .
The first incident took place at about 8 : 30 p . m . on Tuesday at High Level when suspected cult members attacked the deceased and shot him, while on Wednesday , a 400 -level student of Theatre Arts Department was hacked down opposite the second gate of the university at about 4 : 30 p .m .
According to an eyewitness that pleaded for anonymity , the final year student was going to have his hair cut when young men numbering 17 accosted him and shot him . “ The attackers were armed with guns, axes, cutlasses and stones. They rushed at him and shot him .”
The state Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO) , DSP Moses Yamu , confirmed the incidents . “ With the little information at out disposal, it is as a result of rival cult group clashes , because the second person that was killed was said to have participated in the killing of a 300 - level student in the university.” The spokesman added that one of the suspects has been arrested and is making useful information to the police .
