Ondo poll : Kashamu blasts Mimiko
The Senator representing Ogun East in the
National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu, Sunday
berated Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo
State over the loss of by the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) in the governorship
election in the Sunshine State.
Kashamu, in a statement made available to
New Telegraph, also faulted calls for the
cancellation of the result of the November 26
gubernatorial poll.
Describing calls for the poll cancellation as
“misplaced,” the lawmaker urged the PDP
candidate in the election, Mr Eyitayo Jegede
(SAN), not to challenge the outcome at the
election petitions tribunal.
He said the outcome of the election was more
of a referendum on the outgoing Governor of
Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, than the
PDP.
According to him, the election result was a
true reflection of the wish of the electorate.
The Senator absolved the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the
Federal Government of any blame in the
conduct of the exercise.
Kashamu advised the PDP candidate, Jegede
(SAN) not to waste his resources on
challenging the result of the election because
the facts speak for themselves.
