To tackle rampant cases of sexual abuse among youths, secondary schools in Ekiti and Nassarawa States are set to educate their students on sex and reproductive health.

To ensure this, governments of both states, in collaboration with the Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS) and Ford Foundation, yesterday presented to the public, Family Life Health Education (FLHE) Curriculum that will be used by the teachers and instructors in secondary schools to teach the students.

With this development, three states have now adopted FLHE curriculum, Lagos being the first, Mrs. Adenike Esiet, Executive Director, Action Health Incorporated (AHI) disclosed.

Speaking, the President of NAS, Professor Motso Onuoha said the Academy facilitated the curriculum because of its desire to ensure that the benefits of Science and Technology are translated into the benefit of the people.

Professor Akinyinka Omigbogun also from the academy noted that if the youths are not well educated on reproductive health, the future of the country is at risk.
