FG is a disgrace, Failed to Give Stephen Keshi a Proper Burial – Keshi’s Son
The Muhammadu Buhari led administration has received knocks from the Son of late Super Eagles captain and coach, Stephen Keshi Junior over the Federal Government’s inability to properly honor his father.

He felt betrayed that the government left the organization of the funeral rites to the family alone, despite numerous promises to give late Keshi a grand burial.

In his words, “I sat in front of the federal government on national television a few weeks ago and they promised they would honor pops the way he deserves,” he wrote on Instagram.

“But they didn’t do as promised, we aren’t mad, nor sad, just disappointed, they should be ashamed of themselves.

“This sends a terrible message to our youth that are striving to do great things for Nigeria. The good thing is that we were raised not to ask for handouts.

“We don’t owe anyone shit and we can say they owe pops everything. No salt, it is not the people’s fault, we still love Nigeria as pops did.”

But in a bizarre twist, The Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung said that the Federal Government plan to properly honour the late Keshi after the Olympic Games in Rio.

“We don’t want a haphazard burial for such a great patriot, that is why the minister of sports, Solomon Dalung, has said the FG will play its own part after the Olympics”, Nneka Ikem Anibeze is quoted to say by African Sports.

“We will unveil details after the games.”

The football legend Stephen Keshi died suddenly on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 (due to heart related complications), at the age of 54 at his residence in Benin City, Edo state. His funeral culminated with a lying in state at the Stephen Keshi Stadium at Nnebisi Road before a requiem mass at the St’ John, the Evangelist Catholic Church in his hometown of Illah, where he will be buried.
