The Ekiti State House of Assembly has already begun the review of the 2016 budget where monies earmarked for some projects would be diverted to others.
On Tuesday at the plenary, the Ekiti State 2016 Review Appropriation Bill passed second reading on the floor of the assembly while three other laws were read for the first time.

According to a statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Speaker, Stephen Gbadamosi, the state lawmakers during the plenary presided over by Speaker Kola Oluwawole observed that recent economic developments in the state made the amendment necessary.

Also according to the Chairman, House Committee on Finance, Abiola Jeje, it is important to pass the supplementary budget to ensure transparency and accountability in governance.
This, he said, would allow the government to attend to any emergency work that needed the attention of the government.
