The Ekiti State Attorney General (AG) and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Owoseni Ajayi, has said that the government will comply with last Friday’s Supreme Court judgment that set aside the dissolution of local governments by the former governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
In a judgment delivered by Justice Chime Nweze, the apex court declared Fayemi’s action as unconstitutional, unlawful and illegal.
Speaking during a telephone interview with Daily Trust correspondent, yesterday, Ajayi said the affected LG chairmen were members of the PDP.
The AG said Ekiti State, therefore, has no reason to dispute the apex court’s decision.
Fayemi had sacked the elected chairmen of local governments and councillors during his tenure and replaced them with appointed administrators.
The unanimous judgment by the five-man panel, led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour was on the appeal in relation to the dissolution of the 16 local government executives in Ekiti State, during Fayemi’s tenure.
