THE Vice Chancellor of the Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado Ekiti, Prof Samuel Oye Bandele, has said that the syndicate behind a notorious practice of awarding marks to students for monetary reward has been smashed and those found culpable have been sent packing from the University. Bandele said this becomes necessary in order to re-position the institution and make it compete effectively with its peers across the world. Speaking in Ado Ekiti during a pre-convocation press conference, Bandele said the university is to churn out a total of 10,200 degree graduates with 37 of them coming off with first class honours, while not less than 398 will bag Ph.D, Masters, Professional Masters and Post Graduate Diploma degrees.

The VC who is also the Vice Chairman, Committee of Vice Chancellor of State Universities, called for a thorough security scrutiny for prospective nominees for the management of Nigerian universities before appointments are ratified, said this is the only way to ensure that those with criminal, corruption and immoral acts are prevented from bulldozing their ways into such plum seats and start perpetrating evils. Bandele added that Governors of Gombe and Oyo States, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo and Senator Abiola Ajimobi respectively, as well as the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi , are to be conferred with honorary degrees , as part of the activities lined up for the celebration of EKSU’s 22nd convocation ceremonies .
