The Police in Ekiti have arrested no fewer than 20 persons over a violent protest carried out by some youths in Aiyegbaju Ekiti , a major town in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti state between Saturday and Sunday.
Trouble began on Saturday when news filtered that a young indigene of the town identified as Samson Omowunmi had died in a mysterious circumstance .
It was learnt that the deceased and another indigene had been fighting over a parcel of land before his sudden death .
A resident , who spoke under anonymity said Omowunmi suddenly developed a strange sickness during the week and had to be rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he later died on Saturday evening .
His death sparked outrage as some youths in the town suspected a foul play . They suspected that his opponent had a hand in his death and invaded his home in an attempt to burn down the property .
The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer , Alberto AdeyeAdeye said full scale investigation had commenced into the incident , adding that normalcy had returned to the town .
