The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Ekiti State has commenced the training for 2,000 people in various fields of vocations. The gesture ws aimed at reducing unemployment in the society.
About 1,400 of the trainees are undergoing training in cosmetology which incorporates making of bar soap, liquid soap, detergents, perfumes and disinfectants.
A total of 600 of the beneficiaries are being trained for domestic trades such as barbing, GSM phone repairs and catering, among others.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training, NDE Director-General, Dr. Ladan Nasiru Argungu, said the agency has designed many empowerment programmes that would help in reducing unemployment among youths, especially.
