Deputy minority whip in the Senate , Biodun Olujimi , has called on all the political parties participating in the Ekiti State Governorship election slated for July 14 this year , to pick their candidates from the Southern Senatorial District of the state in the interest of equity , fairness and justice.

Olujimi said that while the other two zones have been producing governors , the southern zone has been shortchanged in the scheme of things, saying that it is time for different political parties presenting candidates to give the zone the opportunity .

The senator who represents Ekti South in the National Assembly stated this yesterday , noting that whereas the Central District has produced two governors spanning a period of 12 years, the North has also produced two governors spanning a period of seven and half years.

She said that her intention to contest for the governorship position was to liberate the southern senatorial district from oppression ; injustice and marginalization by the other zones , which have now arrogated the right to produce the governor of the state to themselves.
