
Ekiti State Deputy Governor Bisi Egbeyemi has lamented the high consumption of hard drugs , including Indian hemp , in some parts of the state capital , Ado Ekiti .
Egbeyemi, who named some of the areas as Atikankan, Oke Ila , Odo Ado , Idemo
and Iworoko Road , said the development was unacceptable .
The deputy governor spoke at a special prayer meeting organised by the Ado Ekiti branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria at the palace of the Ewi of Ado Ekiti , Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe in Ado Ekiti .
He said , “ The consumption of Indian hemp and other hard drugs is responsible for crimes like kidnapping , robbery, rape , cultism , thuggery and political violence .
“ I implore parents to caution their children against drug abuse and being used as thugs to cause mayhem in the forthcoming general elections . ”
Egbeyemi sought information from the public to help the police to arrest kidnappers , robbers and other criminals in the state .
Oba Adejugbe advised the people to vote in the forthcoming general elections .
In his sermon , Rev Fr Anthony Ijasan called for sacrificial love among the people , adding that they should allow faith to reflect in their character and always seek the good of their neighbours and the state .
