Fajana , has said report of his plan to boycott Saturday’ s election is meant to cause confusion .
Fajana , who said he was in the race as a strong contender with the popular support of his constituents who elected him in 2015 , described the boycott report as “ imagination of the authors. ”
The PDP candidate spoke to journalists on telephone in Ado Ekiti , the state capital, on Sunday against the backdrop of report that all PDP candidates in the election had withdrawn .
He said , “The rumour making the rounds that Ekiti PDP candidates have withdrawn from the race for lack of confidence in the electoral institution , INEC , is a lie that is far from the truth .
“ Why will I boycott the election ? I have no reason to do so. I am strongly in the race . I am the leading candidate in the race . I am the incumbent and by the grace of God , the incoming .
“ My constituents are very ready to vote for me again and defend their votes.
“ I have touched many lives within the short period of my stay in the hallowed chamber . I have sponsored bills that have direct and positive impact on the people and our legislative system . ”
Fajana expressed optimism that his people would vote for him and that his re - election would be secured based on his outstanding performance and quality representation in his first term .
Unconfirmed report has it that all PDP candidates for Saturday’ s House of Assembly elections in the state are planning to boycott the election.
Recall that a PDP House of Assembly candidate for Irepodun /Ifelodun Local Government Constituency II , Sunday Omosilade , on Friday , withdrew from participating in the election, citing loss of confidence in the electoral process and security agencies .
