The Ekiti State police command yesterday warned vehicle owners against indiscriminate use of tinted glass on vehicles that were not originally fitted with such glass from the factory.
In a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent Caleb Ikechukwu, the police advised those using unauthorised tinted glass to remove them in their own interest on or before April 1, 2019 or face the wrath of the law.
The PPRO vowed that the command would commence enforcing the traffic laws with regards to artificial tinted glass and arrest of defaulting vehicle owners.
“Also the command has placed embargo on unauthorised use of unmarked covered vehicle number plates. This unwholesome practice may be deployed by some unscrupulous persons to aid the commission of crime.
“Covering vehicle number plate amounts to a clear breach of the Road traffic Act and other relevant laws of the land”, the statement added.
Ikechukwu warned that the new security measures, if not taken serious, could impact negatively on the security and general safety of lives and property in the state.
