The immediate past Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, yesterday, denied the allegation by his successor, Acting IG Ibrahim Idris.
Yesterday, we published a post on how Ibrahim Idris accused his predecessor of taking away about 24 police vehicles including two (2) BMW bullet-proof cars. In which Idris stated that he has written Solomon demanding that he returns the cars he took away.
Solomon Arase, who had been in the United Kingdom, however, denied the allegation.
He described the allegation as lies and even denied getting any letter from Idris after leaving office.
Arase in his recent statement from the UK said that all necessary information was in the handover notes he provided to his successor (Ibrahim Idris).
“I suspect there must be a disconnect somewhere because the information needed by my successor are provided in my handover notes. I’m also not aware that any letter was written to me because if there was any, dropped in my house, someone would have alerted me. He said
“It’s unfortunate that this matter is being made a media issue because my successor has my telephone number and could have called me for any clarification or even sent me a text message rather than addressing the media on an issue well documented in my handover notes.” He added.
However, a recent investigation by Vanguard Newspaper, shows that the police vehicle the Acting IG Ibrahim Idris accused Solomon Arase of, were both sent to an auto repair shop located at the Jabi district of Abuja for total and comprehensive repairs for use by the next Inspector General of Police.
According to the Auto Computer Company, one of the BMW cars has been fixed and was delivered to the police headquarter on Sunday afternoon.
But the other armoured plated Staff Car is yet to be fixed as the part required will be imported.
