No fewer than 19 people reportedly killed by insurgents in Borno village - Survivor
No fewer than 19 people were said to have been
killed in an insurgency attack on a village in Borno
state in the early hours of Sunday, August 19.
Reuters reports that a survivor of the attack made
this disclosure. The survivor said the insurgents
attacked the village of Mailari in the Guzamala
region of Borno state around 2am.
NAIJ.com gathers that the survivor identified as
Abatcha Umar said he had not been able to tell
whether they belonged to Boko Haram or to Islamic
State in West Africa (ISWA).

The survivor said counted 19 people killed,
including his younger brother. The death toll was
put at 63 by an aid worker at a camp that received
the survivor.
The aid worker, who declined to be identified, said
hundreds of people from villages in the area had
fled to the camp for displaced people where he
worked, in Monguno.
According to Umar, the militants had been spotted
around the village three days before their attack.
He said locals had warned Nigerian troops stationed
in the nearby town of Gudumbali, but no action was
taken.
