SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT
Success as the popular saying goes has many fathers but failure is an orphan. So it was with the case of Anthony Joshua popularly called AJ for short, a British heavyweight champion of the world who came to Nigeria to represent the motherland in the year 2012 Olympics and was rejected. He went back to England and represented Britain and won gold medal. This is purely another case of rejected stone becoming the chief corner stone as it is written in the Holy Book the Bible.
AJ defeating Wladimir Klitschko is no longer news but controversy erupted on social media recently when a Ghanaian blogger claimed the new boxing heavyweight champion came from Ghana and wrote is his name as Anthony Yaw Joshua. The truth is AJ was born on the 15th October, 1989 in Watford, Hertfordshire as Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua to a Nigerian mother named Yeta Odusanya and a British father of Nigerian and Irish descent.
