Governor Ayodele Fayose threw party affiliations away on Sunday, November 6 as he visited his predecessor in office, Segun Oni.
Oni is now a top member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while Governor Fayose belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Exchanging pleasantriesFayose, according to his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, visited Engineer Oni in his Ifaki Ekiti country home in the evening of Sunday because he remains passionate about the unity of the state and the Yoruba race.
It could be recalled that the governor has recently been in the forefront of those fighting for the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as reports continue to show a political squabble between him and the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

Fayose has constantly urged leaders in Yorubaland to ensure that the former Lagos governor and major financier of the APC is not disgraced.

Meanwhile, the state government will soon start a welfare scheme for teenagers aged 17 to 20 years, Fayose has said.
The scheme is to assist beneficiaries in their educational, career and other pursuits and for them to excel.
Governor Fayose said this in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend while meeting with head teachers in public primary schools in the state.
A statement by his chief press secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, on Sunday, November 6, quoted the governor as saying that the mode of implementation of the scheme was being worked out.
